Before Matthew Stafford took the field for the Rams Salute to Service game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at SoFi Stadium, he was seen welcoming members of the military.

He and his wife Kelly purchased a suite for the 10 active-duty and veteran Navy Seals and their guests before Sunday’s 24-9 victory, where he completed 17 of 25 passes for 157 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.

“They’re ultra important to us being able to live the lives that we live,” Stafford said to California Post senior sports reporter Michael Duarte. “[My] grandfather served. Got a brother-in-law that served. So a lot of people that I know closely, that mean a lot to me have sacrificed a lot to let us live the way we live. Always trying to give back any opportunity that we can.”

After he was done doing his traditional pregame welcome with his daughters, Stafford went and shook the military members’ hands.

His daughters were seen wearing customized, grey camouflage jersey’s that read “Freedom” across the chest and also showed their support with “Thank you” on the back nameplate.

According to the Rams press release, the military members had an opportunity to take pictures on the field with the Stafford family, and also received customized shirts that were provided by the Staffords.

Aside from the military members receiving a moment they’ll remember forever from the Staffords, the Rams were paying tribute to the military throughout the game.

The National Anthem was sung by the “VOICES OF SERVICE” which is a four-member vocal group that is made up of military veteran members. The “CORPS COLOR GUARD” presented the nation’s colors and performed during the third quarter.

With the Rams knocking off the Chargers, they have now won two games in a row for the first time this season and are back at .500 with a 4-4 record.
