FC Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has chartered a private jet to transport his family and entourage to London for the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, according to reports in the Spanish press. The 19-year-old Spanish international enters Monday’s gala as one of the leading contenders for the prestigious individual honor, following a stellar year marked by a La Liga title with his club and a World Cup triumph with the Spanish national team.
Logistical preparations for the upcoming ceremony on Monday are already underway. Victor Nahe, a journalist for the Spanish radio station Cope, reported that Yamal has organized a dedicated private aircraft specifically for his close relatives and core entourage to ensure they can attend the event alongside him. While Yamal and his family travel independently, the official delegation from FC Barcelona will make the journey to the British capital aboard a separate aircraft.
Yamal arrives at the London venue aiming to claim his first Ballon d’Or trophy after finishing second in the 2025 voting behind Ousmane Dembélé, an edition where he did secure the Kopa Trophy for the world’s best under-21 player. During last year’s gala in Paris, the young forward had similarly prepared for a potential victory by organizing a private celebration with his relatives ahead of time. This season, his candidacy is strengthened by his domestic success in Spain and his instrumental role in La Roja’s World Cup victory.
The competition for the 2026 Ballon d’Or remains fiercely contested, with voting outcomes widely viewed as uncertain across the football world. Alongside Yamal, the shortlist of top favorites features elite forwards Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane.
