Barcelona are preparing for a crucial January transfer window, with defensive reinforcements becoming a priority following several injuries.
Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Xavi Espart and Andreas Christensen have all suffered setbacks, exposing the squad’s lack of depth.
The Catalan club have already been linked with Stuttgart centre-back Finn Jeltsch, while signing another full-back remains a possibility as they assess their options.
According to SPORT, president Joan Laporta has identified Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro as a potential target.
Barcelona have reportedly monitored the Spanish international for some time and considered signing him towards the end of the previous summer transfer window.
A deal failed to materialise because Tottenham reportedly demanded €60 million for the right-back.
Porro also remains under contract in north London until 2031, strengthening the Premier League club’s negotiating position.
Nevertheless, the defender is reportedly open to returning to Spanish football, potentially leaving the door open if Barcelona can negotiate an affordable agreement.
Porro could strengthen Barcelona’s right flank by providing attacking quality, defensive experience and additional options for manager Hansi Flick.
His versatility could also allow Eric Garcia to operate in different positions, reports Barca Universal.
The former Manchester City player has accumulated more than 150 competitive appearances for Tottenham and earned 24 caps for Spain, bringing valuable experience to the proposed move.
However, Barcelona must carefully consider the financial implications before pursuing the transfer. Their defensive injuries create an immediate need, but Tottenham’s reported valuation could prove difficult to meet.
The Catalan club may also have another option, with Fiorentina right-back Dodo reportedly available on a free transfer next summer.
That alternative could influence Laporta’s decision as Barcelona weigh their January priorities against longer-term financial considerations.
