Amazon documentary crew told to stop laughing during Man United’s Como meltdown

The only trophy they’re winning is a Best Comedy BAFTA

The Amazon Prime documentary crew filming Manchester United’s season has been ordered to stop laughing after repeatedly disrupting Wednesday night’s 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como.

The production team, currently filming the club’s All or Nothing series, were reportedly struggling to maintain their professionalism as Michael Carrick’s side produced another performance which threatened to turn the documentary into a six-part comedy special.

Bet 5 Get 30

Problems began just two minutes into the match when Nico Paz opened the scoring, prompting an audible snort from a cameraman positioned behind the United bench.

By the time Como scored their third, two sound engineers had reportedly collapsed into each other’s arms, while a producer was forced to leave the stadium after developing a stitch.

An Amazon insider told us, ‘We originally pitched this as an inspirational behind-the-scenes documentary about one of the world’s biggest football clubs.

‘Nobody told us we’d accidentally commissioned the most expensive sitcom in television history.

‘We’ve filmed Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham, and somehow managed to keep straight faces through the lot.

‘Tottenham was touch and go, we even held it together when Mikel Arteta blasted You’ll Never Walk Alone through a speaker at Arsenal’s training ground to prepare his players for Anfield.

‘But this was something else entirely.

‘One cameraman actually asked whether Michael Carrick was a real manager or an actor playing one. Like Ted Lasso, except nobody learns anything and every episode ends in defeat’.

United players have already expressed concerns that the presence of Amazon’s cameras is affecting performances, with some claiming they feel unable to speak freely in the dressing room. However, producers insist the cameras are not responsible for United’s inability to defend, pass, tackle, shoot or run.

The documentary’s working title, All or Nothing, has also reportedly caused confusion among executives, who believe the club has already settled firmly on the second option.

Amazon is understood to be considering reclassifying the series from sports documentary to mockumentary, with a viewer warning that some scenes may contain levels of second-hand embarrassment not seen since David Brent’s motivational speech in The Office.

Meanwhile, Carrick has reassured supporters that the team will analyse the defeat, learn from their mistakes and return to training determined to make completely different mistakes against Bournemouth on Sunday.

An Amazon spokesperson added:

‘We’ve already got enough footage for three seasons.

‘Unfortunately, we’re only eleven games in’.
