Leicester City’s academy has been one of the few success stories in recent years but they look set to lose one of their brightest prospects for free at the end of the season.
Russell Martin has brought through the likes of Jayden Joseph and Sammy Braybrooke this season while Louis Page turned down the chance to join Manchester United and other star Jeremy Monga signed for Manchester City.
Seagrave has proved to be a great home for the next generation of young Foxes, but now looks like they will be losing one for definite in Lorenz Hutchinson.
Hutchinson has been one of the most prolific goalscorers at youth level for Leicester but is yet to have been given a proper chance in the first-team.
The forward made his professional debut off the bench in Leicester’s Jersey Mike’s victory against Fulham U21s and scored 18 goals at U18 level last season.
Lazio made an approach in the summer for him but were unable to complete the deal in time, however, BBC Sport say that the Serie A club could go back in for him.
As he is out of contract in the summer, Lazio could arrange a pre-contract deal with him in January that would allow him to move to Rome for nothing.
That would be a real kick in the teeth for the Foxes, who were in line to receive £1.2m, plus a 20 per cent sell-on clause for the original deal in the summer window.
To make things worse, Hutchinson is supposedly keen on the move and losing a player to a side in a top five European league suggests that they may be letting a diamond get away.
