Former USMNT striker Eddie Johnson said that he would train the three-year-old boy, Nevada Pierre, who recently in the news for his excellent play on the pitch before police were called and the family was asked to leave the park where he was playing.

"His situation has brought light to a lot of the things that still exist in youth soccer in this country," Johnson noted, per ESPN's Robert Klemko. "Entitlement, jealousy, Envy, nepotism, gatekeeping and profiling especially against people of color."

Johnson, 42, runs the EJE7 Soccer Academy in Orlando.

Alongside playing for the national team, he also played for a number of MLS clubs and the Premier League's Fulham during his career. He made 63 appearances for the USMNT, scoring 19 goals. He did not play in a World Cup for the country but did win the Gold Cup with the United States in 2007 and 2013. He was also the MLS Comeback Player of the Year twice (2007, 2012).
