Dje Tavares has committed his future to CD Santa Clara until 2031, while Djibril Traore is set to begin his European career with Slovan Liberec.

Here is the latest Africa-focused football news, including contract announcements, transfers and developments involving African players.

At 10:05, CD Santa Clara announced that Cape Verde midfielder Dje Tavares had signed a new contract running until 30 June 2031.

The 23-year-old joined the Portuguese club in the summer of 2024 and has steadily progressed through its ranks. After making 29 appearances for the first team during his debut season at senior level, Tavares has become an important member of the squad.

His performances have also earned him recognition at international level, with the midfielder making his debut for the Cape Verde national team.

Tavares spoke after signing the new agreement.

At 09:50, Ivorian midfielder Djibril Traore completed a move to Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic.

Traore joins from Leader Foot Academie and is taking his first step into European football. His transfer was announced on Instagram by scouting agency Bicycle Kick-football scouting.

The young midfielder will initially play for Slovan Liberec’s reserve side, which competes in the Czech third division. The move gives Traore an opportunity to continue his development within the club’s structure.

At 09:35, NEC Nijmegen confirmed that Franco-Senegalese central midfielder Noe Lebreton had extended his contract.

The 22-year-old is now under contract with the Dutch club until 30 June 2030. NEC Nijmegen announced the agreement on its X account.

Lebreton’s market value is estimated at 6 million euros.

At 09:20, Gabonese Under-23 international Bevine Josphet Louembet returned to domestic football by signing for Stade Migoveen.

The defensive midfielder spent time with Stade Mandji before moving back to Gabon. He has agreed to a one-season contract with Stade Migoveen as he looks to relaunch his career in the national championship and contribute his experience to his new team.

Louembet, 21, confirmed the move in an interview with Gaboneco.

The former Equatorial Dream Sports Academy (EDSA) midfielder can also operate in central defence. His versatility gives Stade Migoveen additional options as the Gabonese club works to strengthen its squad.
