Four Nigerian youngsters featured for Slavia Prague in their UEFA Champions League encounter against Fenerbahce on Tuesday night, marking a significant moment for the country’s emerging football talents on Europe’s biggest club stage.
Emmanuel Ayaosi, Mubarak Suleiman and David Moses were named in Slavia Prague’s starting line-up, while Samuel Isife came on as a second-half substitute.
Ayaosi made a decisive contribution by providing an assist as the Czech champions secured a 2-2 draw to claim their first point in the Champions League group phase.
The result offered some relief for Slavia Prague after defeats to RC Lens and Sabah in their previous matches in the competition.
The Nigerian contingent’s involvement highlighted the growing presence of young Nigerian footballers in European club competitions, with Ayaosi particularly influential in helping his side earn a valuable result away from home.
His assist also provided another opportunity to showcase his attacking qualities at the highest level of European club football.
With the group campaign continuing, Slavia Prague will hope to build on the draw, while the four Nigerian youngsters will be looking to maintain their involvement and make further contributions to the team’s progress.
