The incredible Premier League table since Aston Villa appointed Unai Emery
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.

Only Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have taken more points than Aston Villa since Unai Emery was appointed Steven Gerrard’s successor back in November 2022.

Emery, who left La Liga outfit Villarreal to take the job at Villa Park, has done an exceptional job.

A 2-1 victory over Manchester City ended the reigning champions’ 100% winning record under Enzo Maresca and provided another reminder of Villa’s progress under the Spaniard.

Overall, the Spanish coach has masterminded 76 wins and just 41 defeats from his 148 Premier League matches in charge of the club.

It has to be remembered where Emery found Villa.

Before his first game in charge, at home to Manchester United, Villa were languishing one place and one point above the relegation zone, three points off rock bottom, having won just two of their opening 13 matches that season.

Villa’s fortunes improved almost immediately, a 3-1 win over United marking the start of the new regime.

So commenced a slow and steady climb up the table, leading to a seventh-place finish and a Europa Conference League place.

In Emery’s full seasons in charge, Villa finished fourth in 2023-24, sixth in 2024-25, and fourth again in 2025-26, securing Champions League qualification for the second time in three years.

Villa also won the Europa League last season, underlining the remarkable transformation overseen by Emery.

To further illustrate how good the Spaniard has been at Villa, take a look at how the Premier League table has shaped up since he was appointed at the start of November 2022.
