Pope Strikes Again, Goes To $2.9M For Dam of GSW Hall of Fame
Flag Day is carrying a full-sibling to GSW 'TDN Rising Star' Hall of Fame | Hodges

The 10-year-old mare Flag Day (Giant's Causeway–Sense to Complete, by Street Sense) (hip 79), already the dam of GSW 'TDN Rising Star' Hall of Fame (Gun Runner) and carrying a full-sibling to that colt, was purchased by Whisper Hill Farm's Mandy Pope for $2.9 million to shoot to the head of the class at Keeneland November.

The blaze-faced chestnut was consigned to the sale by Denali Stud, Agent for the Complete Dispersal of Breeding Stock of Earle Mack.

An unraced half-sister to the dual graded-stakes placed Street Ready and to SP Robin Hoot (Scat Daddy), Flag Day is out of a stakes-placed half-sister to GSW Lady Digby (Grand Slam) and to the dam of GI Whitney Stakes winner Diversify (Bellamy Road).

“I love Giant's Causeway mares. I think he is one of the top broodmare sires that we've had,” Pope said. “And I also like that she's out of a Street Sense mare. She's already produced two stakes winners, with the second one being the 2-year-old. and she is back in foal to Gun Runner.

“So the plan would be to foal her out and come back with that one as a yearling and get $3.5 million for her. And then we are out on the mare and good to go.
I was hoping she would be around $2 million, but everything is bringing a lot of money. If you want this kind of mare, it's what you have to do.”

Pope was also the successful bidder at $1.05 million of a weanling filly by Good Magic earlier in the session.
