Lamine Yamal has been named Flashscore Player of the Month for October after another outstanding run of performances for Barcelona.
The 19-year-old winger played 504 minutes across six matches, all for Barcelona, helping the club score 21 goals. Although two of those games ended in defeat, Yamal recorded an impressive Flashscore rating of 8.6.
He contributed four goals and five assists during the month, while also being named man of the match on three occasions. His curling finish in Barcelona’s 5-2 victory at Real Betis was among the standout moments and has been described as a contender for goal of the season.
The award is Yamal’s second in succession and reflects his growing influence at Barcelona at the beginning of the 2026/27 season.
Barcelona began the month with a 3-0 league win over Getafe as their international players returned to club football following an extended break. Yamal provided an assist in a controlled victory.
He then made a decisive impact in Turkey against Galatasaray. Barcelona fell 1-0 behind, but Yamal helped launch the comeback and supplied two assists in a 4-1 victory that stunned the home supporters.
Against Real Betis, his spectacular goal was the highlight of a comprehensive team display. Yamal also added an assist as Barcelona produced one of their strongest performances of the 2026/27 campaign.
Barcelona’s 4-2 Champions League defeat by holders Paris Saint-Germain was a more difficult night, although Yamal scored and finished the match with an individual Flashscore rating of 8.3.
El Clasico was arguably his least impressive performance of the month, but he responded in emphatic fashion against Alaves. Barcelona ended October with a 6-1 victory, with Yamal scoring twice and setting up another goal.
“For Lamine it was a great game,” Hansi Flick said afterwards. “This is what I want to see after these two defeats. How we react, it was good and in the right way.”
Yamal has already made 165 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions, scoring 61 goals and providing 56 assists.
For comparison, Lionel Messi had played 43 times for Barcelona by the age of 19, scoring 11 goals and assisting six more. Yamal remains a long way from being compared directly with the Argentinian, but his early numbers underline his potential if he can remain largely free of injury.
He finished third in the Ballon d’Or voting, behind winner Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe. Despite the disappointment, Yamal responded by congratulating the England captain, showing the maturity that has become another feature of his rapid development.
Barcelona’s main ambition remains winning the Champions League, and Yamal will be central to their efforts to secure the trophy in Madrid next year. The expectation placed on him reflects his importance to the club and the enjoyment his performances provide to supporters far beyond Barcelona.
