Flavien Prat, who won three Breeders' Cup races at Keeneland Race Course during the World Championships on Oct. 30 and 31, was named the recipient of the 2026 Bill Shoemaker Award, given to the outstanding jockey of the event.
The annual Shoemaker Award goes to the jockey who rides the most winners across the 14 Championship races. Ryan Moore also won three races on the weekend, but the award ultimately went to Prat with the tiebreaker being a 10-3-1 point system for second-through fourth-place finishes.
Prat secured his second Shoemaker Award for the trio of wins that began on Future Stars Friday with a victory from Hughes (Into Mischief) in the GI FanDuel Breeders' Cup Juvenile. He followed on Saturday with a dominant triumph atop Ways and Means (Practical Joke) in the GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint two races before piloting Further Ado (Gun Runner) to a dramatic nose victory in the GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.
Moore's three wins came in the GI John Deere Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf with Sun Goddess (Ire) (Sioux Nation), the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf with Haffner (Justify) and the GI Longines Breeders' Cup Turf with Benvenuto Cellini (Ire) (Frankel {GB}).
Jose Ortiz landed in the winner's circle twice over the weekend, taking the GI Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf with Kathynmarissa (American Pharoah) and the GI Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff with Nitrogen (Medaglia d'Oro).
