Tottenham fans remain divided over how much they would pay for a Will Lankshear return to N17, amid his impressive Championship form with Middlesbrough.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Will Lankshear is in red-hot form as he continues to score goals with ease. The forward has now managed 11 goals in 14 appearances for Middlesbrough in the Championship following his £20 million move away from Spurs.

In contrast, Tottenham have struggled badly in front of goal, with the Lilywhites scoring just three times in the Premier League – the lowest tally in the division.

Tottenham currently have three joint top scorers – Dominic Solanke, Jan Paul van Hecke, and Conor Gallagher – each with a single goal, which is more than triple the tally Lankshear has managed so far this campaign.

Tottenham fans split over potential Will Lankshear return despite impressive goalscoring form

Of course, given Lankshear’s form, the big question is whether Spurs made the right decision in letting go of one of their brightest academy prospects permanently. The Tottenham faithful have had their say.

Many Spurs supporters are refusing to get carried away, choosing not to overreact given the level he is currently performing at, while others would not mind seeing Tottenham sign the youngster in the future.

Spurs Web asked fans on X how much they would pay to re-sign the striker, and the responses were mixed:

Spurs may regret lack of buy-back clause in Will Lankshear deal

While fans are right to point out that Lankshear is only performing in the Championship, the gulf in quality between the second tier and the Premier League makes it difficult to judge whether Spurs made a major error in selling him permanently.

But one decision Tottenham may regret, however, is failing to include a buy-back clause in his move to Middlesbrough.

If Lankshear – already being compared to Harry Kane – continues to develop at his current rate, he could eventually be worth over £100 million. Unfortunately, Tottenham do not have a buy‑back clause in place.

Spurs would at least benefit from a 20% sell-on clause included in his transfer, ensuring they receive a cut of any future sale. The Lilywhites could also match whatever offer if they wish to sign Lankshear in the future.
