‘Do Bronx’ is expecting a lot of Brazilian success at UFC 335.
The UFC’s final numbered event of 2026 will close out with Charles Oliveira defending his BMF title for the first time since winning it from Max Holloway.
Co-headlining UFC 335 in Las Vegas will be Alex Pereira, as the former light heavyweight and middleweight champion returns for his second appearance at heavyweight.
‘Poatan’ must get past Sergei Pavlovich to secure another title shot, and Oliveira is fully expecting his fellow countryman to do just that on December 12.
Tell us how Alex Pereira's second heavyweight fight plays out…
Pereira was knocked out by Ciryl Gane in his heavyweight arrival this past June. In Pavlovich, he is facing another powerhouse with dynamite in his fists.
While some have been predicting a second straight stoppage loss for ‘Poatan’ as a result, Oliveira sees a key weakness in the Russian’s game affecting his chances and paving the way for Pereira to finish the fight.
“Two tough fights, both mine and his, but I really believe in ‘Poatan’s’ firepower and his strategy, and in his ability to get in there and win,” Oliveira said during a recent interview with MMA Fighting.
“Pavlovich is a very tough guy, a heavy hitter, a big guy, a strong guy, but ‘Poatan’ is ‘Poatan’. If ‘Poatan’ lands a punch, if he’s in the right mindset and gets his timing right, if he lands that punch, he can also knock him out easily.
“It’s a very dangerous fight, I know that, but Pavlovich doesn’t defend against kicks, and ‘Poatan’ kicks a lot,” he continued. “‘Poatan’ moves well. In reality, if he manages to connect and gets his timing right first, it will definitely be another great knockout.”
Pereira will hope to prove his compatriot correct and bounce back from his UFC Freedom 250 setback.
If ‘Poatan’ has his hand raised, he could be looking at another chance to make history by becoming the first three-division champion in UFC history next year.
Either a rematch with Gane or a grudge match with Josh Hokit could await the Brazilian in 2027, provided he first gets past Pavlovich.
